Blissful Misery creatively spans many genres.
The band’s music incorporates elements from all types of metal and rock as well as classical, symphonic, gothic, acoustic, blues, and even country styles.
Blissful Misery was originally started in June 2001 by Michael Keeter and two other people.
For several years the band was fully active, despite having many lineup changes.
In the mid 2000′s the all of the band’s other members decided to go their separate ways.
However, Michael decided to continue Blissful Misery in it’s original direction on his own.
Several times Michael entered the studio to work on the band’s first planned full length album, The Madness, but never got to finish it.
A few years later Michael started a new band, Black Misery, which allowed him more creative expression than the path Blissful Misery was set on.
Due to this Michael barely worked on Blissful Misery at all for a few years.
In early 2010 Michael announced that Blissful Misery, as well as two of his other projects, were no longer active, and that he was stopping them completely.
Michael also announced that he would be starting a new solo project under his old solo projects name.
However, after some meetings with his business advisors Michael decided to start his new project under the Blissful Misery name.
Upon it’s restart Blissful Misery’s song collection grew greatly to include all of Michael’s musical works, only excluding most of the Black Misery songs.
Also, all of the music has been or will be somewhat rewritten in Blissful Misery’s new styles.
Mainly the rewrites will include new vocal melodies, as well as keyboard and synth parts.
Originally Blissful Misery planned and worked on full albums at the time.
With it’s new iteration Blissful Misery scrapped all planned releases and now works on a song by song basis.
All music will be released digitally song by song as it’s ready.
If and when a full collection of music is ready it will be released in album format.
Blissful Misery was originally started in June of 2002.
The band has underwent many lineup changes over the years, but was completely reformed into a new monstrous beast in early 2010.
In 1998-1999 Michael began writing music and lyrics for a band project he wanted to start.
In mid 1999 Michael named the band The Demonic Angels, after the very first song that was completely written.
After less than a week the band’s name was changed to WYRM, after Michael’s favorite mythical beasts, dragons.
In 2001 the band decided to change it’s name, mainly due to another new band emerging with the name.
After much debate the name was changed to Unbounded.
However, the band felt their music had evolved so much over the life of WYRM, that it dropped all of the previous songs and began writing brand new songs.
The band wrote and practiced constantly until 2002 when an Asian pop band emerged with the name Unbounded.
At this point Michael decided it was time to find a permanent name, and thus Blissful Misery was formed.
However, this time the band kept almost all of it’s songs, and they became what would be the track list of the first planned album, The Madness.
In 2004 Blissful Misery released it’s first EP called Welcome To The Madness.
The EP got mixed reviews due to it’s very low budget quality, but the band decided to try again.
In 2005, a new instrumental version of the EP called Welcome To The Instrumental Madness was released.
The EP received great reviews from those who heard it.
In 2006 Michael began working on another project, Black Misery, and Blissful Misery slowly went dormant.
Between 2006 and 2010 Blissful Misery entered the studio several times to work on it’s first planned album The Madness, but problems arose each time.
In early 2010 the band decided to call it quits, but was quickly reformed anew instead.
Michael killed off 2 of his other 3 projects that he alone wrote for, and reformed Blissful Misery into his personal project.
Michael has brought a lot of new songs from his other projects to Blissful Misery now to give the band a huge collection of songs to work with when not writing brand new songs.
In early 2011 Michael decided to try retiring from his musical projects, but around mid 2011 had found that he couldn’t take not working with his music. In July 2011 Michael recombined Blissful Misery and Black Misery, as well as invited Jessica from Black Misery to Blissful Misery.
