Sometime during the rest of the day we will be working on the writing project that we’ve been talking about, and I’ll be doing maintenance on the guitars. At least once or twice a year I have to setup the guitars to get them back to their best playability. Mainly around big weather changes they seem to get all out of whack and want attention.

We are planning to have at least a small practice every day this week, as well as work on the writing project.  Hopefully by next week we will have at least 2 more fully completed songs to add to our practice list.

Starting tomorrow we are going to start converting songs with at least one full track of at least one instrument to the new score format. We will also be working on writing new parts here and there for different songs. We’ve decided to work on each song however it feels best writing it. We may write the rest of a whole song, or we may write one section, one riff, or any other amount before moving on to the next song.

I think we may start one Vampyre Maiden tomorrow, because the only missing part is the guitar solo. Also, we will probably end up doing most of the other Black Misery songs first, because they are the most completely written songs. Our main focus is to get the songs we actually want to practice and hopefully play live someday finished first. Other songs that we just want to have written will probably be last.

So what’s changing? Almost all songs will have one or two guitar parts, one to four keyboard parts, bass, drums, and a vocal melody if not an instrumental. Jessica and I both are going to rewrite and rework a lot of the lyrics to work for us better. A lot of the old songs will be changed or updated to be better overall songs. I’m also probably going to change a lot of the solos, and all new solos will be in a different style probably. I’m tired of doing more flash in solos than anything, and I want to do more melodic meaningful solos. I can still flash it out there a bit, but I’d rather have something that’s going to work better with the song overall. I feel like my writing has matured a lot over the last few years, and I’m ready to be much more professional about my playing and writing.

After the acoustic piano version is finished I’ll get some audio of it up. Next, I will be working on the full band version of the song. I know I will be changing the solo somewhat, and may also change one of the parts close to the end. I can just never remember that part is coming up for some reason. I guess it just doesn’t click for me.

I’ve been working on some of our music off and on over the last few weeks, and been practicing covers as well. I think we are going to get back into playing more, which is a great thing! Oh well… I’m off of here for now to work on this song.
